Ssang garakji is a traditional Korean wedding ring, worn by a married woman, symbolizing the harmony between a couple. It is normally worn as two individual bands sitting next to each other on the finger. As a reinterpretation, I created two bands fused together with flowers blooming in the middle. The incorporated flowers include peace lilies, a blue bonnet, cosmos, and the rose of Sharon.

I have received a jade Ssang garakji from my grandmother and it made me aware of the importance of familial piety and value. Through the history of this ring in Korean culture, I have found the relationship of the two bands as an intimate connection of reflection and meditation. Therefore, this ring was made for my mother, as a symbol of her resilience and beauty when she dedicated her life to our family.
